Chevrolet Certified Master Technician working on tire installation for vehicle with all-terrain tires

Fall is almost here. While autumn is undoubtedly beautiful, it also means new driving hazards. For your safety, we recommend completing Chevrolet service at Carroll Chevrolet to prepare your vehicle.

Inspect Your Tread

As gorgeous as they are, fall leaves can disguise potholes and block drainage, leaving extra moisture on the road. Wet leaves also reduce your traction on the road, so your tread must be at least 4/32 of an inch deep.

Check Your Tire Pressure

As the temperature drops, your tires’ air pressure will drop too. Make sure that your tires are at the ideal PSI, but don’t forget to take the temperature into account. While underinflated tires can increase drag, driving on overinflated tires can lead to premature wear.

Double-Check Your Lights

As we approach the end of daylight savings time, dusk seems to get earlier and earlier. This leads to more driving in the dark. For your safety (and the safety of those around you), make sure that your headlights and taillights are working correctly, as well as your turn signals and brake lights.

Test Your Brakes

The fall is also back-to-school season, which means many new drivers are on the road, and more kids are heading to and from school. These hazards are a reminder to keep a safe distance on the road and be ready to stop on a dime, just in case. Ensure you watch for reduced speed limits in school zones and kids boarding school buses.
